Incoloy 20 Alloy Sheet (UNS N08020, also called Alloy 20) is a premium nickel-iron-chromium alloy engineered for extreme acid resistance. Unlike standard stainless steels, it incorporates 3.0-4.0% copper and 2.0-3.0% molybdenum to prevent intergranular corrosion and pitting— making it the top choice for sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid applications. With 32.0-38.0% nickel, 19.0-21.0% chromium, and iron as balance, Incoloy 20 Alloy Sheet balances corrosion resistance and mechanical strength for thin-gauge structural parts.

Superior Acid Corrosion Resistance

The defining strength of Incoloy 20 Alloy Sheet is its acid tolerance:

Resists 20-60% sulfuric acid at up to 60℃ (316L stainless steel fails above 30℃)

Performs in dilute-to-concentrated phosphoric acid (fertilizer production)

Tolerates acidic solutions with chloride impurities (avoids pitting)

Copper and molybdenum stabilize its passive film, ensuring long-term durability in harsh chemicals.


Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) Resistance

Incoloy 20 Alloy Sheet avoids “sensitization” (chromium carbide formation at grain boundaries), even after welding. This eliminates IGC— a common failure mode in unstabilized alloys like 304 stainless steel— making it ideal for welded structures (e.g., reactor tanks).


Strong Mechanical Properties

At room temperature, it delivers impressive performance for thin sheets:

Minimum tensile strength: 620 MPa

Minimum yield strength (0.2% offset): 300 MPa

Minimum elongation: 40% (supports bending, stamping, and deep drawing)

Solution treatment (1040-1100℃, water quenched) ensures a non-magnetic austenitic structure— perfect for electrical applications.

Cutting: Shearing, laser-cutting, or plasma-cutting (no edge cracking)

FAQ


Can it resist hydrochloric acid?

It outperforms 304/316 stainless steel in dilute (≤10%) hydrochloric acid at room temperature but is not recommended for concentrated (≥20%) or high-temperature (≥50℃) solutions (upgrade to Hastelloy C276 for these cases).


What’s the maximum operating temperature?

Incoloy 20 Alloy Sheet operates continuously at up to 550℃. Beyond this, strength and oxidation resistance decline— choose Inconel 601 for higher temps.


Is it food-safe?

Yes. It meets FDA 21 CFR Part 175.300 (non-toxic, no metal leaching) and its smooth finishes (2B/No. 4) are easy to sanitize— ideal for citrus juicers or dairy equipment.


How is quality ensured?

Every batch undergoes ICP-MS chemical analysis (verifies UNS N08020 composition), tensile testing, 50% sulfuric acid immersion testing (100 hours, no corrosion), and surface defect checks (ASTM B472 standards).
